Hillel of Greater Philadelphia is committed to respecting student privacy. This privacy policy governs our collection and use of personal information, whether gathered by our staff, from program participants, website visitors, or through correspondence, and reflects our policies toward gathering and disseminating data.
Our policy is to only use data collected for such purposes as are integral to furthering our organization’s stated mission. Identifying information pertaining to students on our websites or publications will only be used with their express consent. We do, however, maintain internal lists of students and contacts. Because a student’s mail and e-mail addresses are confidential, we never share this information with outside parties and only appropriate personnel are allowed access to our lists. Lists are accessed only for the purpose of upgrading our computer systems, or distributing newsletters, correspondence, event notifications, or other communications that further our mission.
Visitors to the Website and Website Security Our online database is protected by various means and levels of security put in place to safeguard data integrity and to prevent unauthorized access and/or use of its systems. These security measures have been designed to provide the user with reasonable protection of private information entrusted to our possession. - Through correspondence students send us by mail, our online emails, and through other forms not associated with the database
Google Analytics
HGP tracks student website usage through Google Analytics. This gives us aggregated information about usage on our website, but does not reveal IP addresses (computer identification number). Google Analytics logs visitors to automate information collection concerning web traffic, usage, length of time visitors stayed, new visitors, entry and exit points, and the like. It is also used as statistical information for reporting and to find ways to improve web usability. Online Forms
Online forms are generated by our database to gather information about students and their interests when they register to receive our mailings (including electronic communication) for a program, event, or leadership training. This information is never shared with non-Hillel staff and is used solely for helping staff to meet the needs of students in terms of program planning and in furtherance of our stated mission. No student contact information or any correspondence is ever sold or shared with non-Hillel staff, and is used only to conduct our daily business in accomplishing our stated mission. HGP Sharing Practices
None of the information we collect is shared with third parties except as aggregated statistics for organizational performance reporting purposes, capturing and defining web traffic patterns, and website improvement. Our purpose is to provide communications and collaboration with and among nonprofits in order to better serve our shared constituents. If a student sends us questions, we may forward the request for information to parties who would be able to assist or we may respond directly with that information. Links to Other Websites
HGP’s website often provides links to other websites that may be of interest to the students we serve. Although we work hard to ensure we are linking to appropriate sites, and take full responsibility for the content of our site and our own privacy policy, we are not responsible for the privacy practices or the content of sites to which we link.
Online Surveys
Occasionally we may ask students to participate in online surveys in the interest of accomplishing our mission. Such surveys are always on a volunteer basis, and it is not necessary to participate. Should a student decide to fill out a survey, information collected may include demographics such as zip codes, age group, services received or provided, etc. Survey information is used in the aggregate to improve our organizational and online services.

If a student believes that his/her personal and/or private information is being used other than for its intended purpose, or if a student has any questions about our Privacy Policy, contact HGP at 215-898-8265 and the concerns will be addressed immediately. Hillel of Greater Philadelphia reserves the right to change this policy whenever deemed necessary without prior notification.
